Schools and Teachers Passport to Asia for Kids Volunteers & Docents

The Docent Program:

The Crow Collection of Asian Art offers dedicated life-long learners imbued with a love of museums the opportunity to delve into the study and teaching of the arts of Japan, China, India and Southeast Asia. Docents, through an exciting process of developing communication skills and sharing knowledge of the collection, are responsible for speaking in the galleries to audiences of all ages.

The General Docent Program is accepting applicants for the upcoming academic year, which will run from September 2006 to May 2007. Docent Training is held on the second and fourth Mondays from 10:00 a.m. until noon, and on Tuesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The expected time commitment is approximately 6-10 hours per month. Training topics will include contextual information on the historical relevance of the objects as well as innovative teaching methods for developing engaging and interactive tours.

The General Volunteer Programs:

For those individuals with a spirit for volunteering whose interests lie in areas other than the docent programs, The Crow Collection of Asian Art provides hands-on experiences in the following areas:
